AI Runtime
Understand runtime location, model compatibility and the limits of connected tools.
Understand your THOX runtime
Device runtime and hosted demos
ThoxOS manages intelligence at the device layer. The ThoxEmployee and EdgeLab website demos use hosted inference after consent; their responses do not prove that a model ran on your device.
Check the API contract
Use the endpoint and authentication instructions for your installed runtime. OpenAI-compatible describes a request format when a runtime supports it; it does not promise every endpoint, streaming mode or tool feature.
Check the selected provider
Before sending a prompt, confirm where it will be processed. EdgeLab displays the configured provider and model before evaluation. Its availability display describes configuration, not a guarantee that the next request will succeed.
Handle access and limits
A local network address does not replace authentication. Follow the access controls for your deployment and the limits shown by each hosted demo.
Choose and evaluate a model
Start with compatibility
Use the THOX model compatibility page and the documentation for your runtime. Check the model format, memory, storage and license before downloading.
Read the evidence for the model
A published compatibility result applies to the listed model and setup. A model on a watchlist is not the same as a tested option for your device.
Measure your own workload
Response time depends on the model, hardware, context length and current load. Try a short synthetic task, then compare quality and latency on representative examples.
Keep changes deliberate
Use the model-management controls provided by your installed runtime. Downloading a model or importing a profile does not automatically enable tool access or device control.
Connect tools deliberately
Check the connector documentation
Model Context Protocol, or MCP, connects applications with tools and data sources. Use only the connectors and transports documented for the specific THOX application and release.
Review permissions
A connector can have access beyond generating text. Review its publisher, credentials, allowed folders and available tools before enabling it.
Understand the website demos
EdgeLab returns a proposal for a logical device profile and does not execute it. ThoxEmployee produces written work for review; approving an output does not send messages or perform actions in another application.
Keep ThoxWork preview separate
ThoxWork is Coming Soon. The profile preview lets you inspect and export compatible profile information; importing a profile does not enroll a runtime, transfer credentials or connect external tools.
